Case Officer at the Swedish Customs Selection Center

The Swedish Customs consists of four operational departments; the Control Department, the Revenue Department, the Customs Criminal Department, and the Intelligence Department.

The Intelligence Department gathers, processes, analyzes, conducts risk analyses, and manages intelligence information. The intelligence operations work within all parts of the Swedish Customs mission, concerning both illegal and dangerous goods as well as revenue collection. The work aims to prevent, detect, and stop criminal activities. The department is divided into four units with geographical responsibility: south, west, east, and north, and also includes the Customs Selection Center and the Strategic Analysis and National Desk unit.

We are now looking for case officers for the Customs Selection Center. The position is temporary for up to 6 months with immediate start.

About the Position

The Customs Selection Center is tasked with selecting and profiling, being responsible for risk outcomes, and suggesting risk objects in the Customs' operational information to prevent, stop, and detect smuggling crimes.

Management and supervision are largely conducted remotely, and as an employee, you will work nationally, which means you will collaborate with colleagues placed in different locations across the country. This places high demands on cooperation skills and flexibility. Collaboration internally as well as with external authorities is a natural part of the work.

As an employee at the Customs Selection Center, you are expected to contribute and work towards continuous development and improvement of the operations together with managers and other employees. The work includes developing routines and work methodologies as well as participating in development work related to the selection area.

The work involves shift work, and you need to be comfortable with irregular working hours. In addition to the Customs' core values, the work should be characterized by quality, proactivity, and collaboration.

Are You the One We Are Looking For?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • The Customs basic training
  • Good ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish and English
  • Very good IT skills and the ability to easily learn new programs and systems
  • Experience in data analysis in databases and good knowledge of the Office package, primarily Excel
  • Experience working with and analyzing large datasets and information
  • Very good collaboration skills and accustomed to working in teams
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment and be both flexible and structured
  • Swedish driver's license, at least class B for passenger cars
  • Swedish citizenship

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience in intelligence work at the Swedish Customs
  • Experience in selection work
  • Experience in postal and courier flows

Individual salary setting applies. Work is scheduled Monday to Friday with early morning shifts.

The position may involve travel, both within and outside Sweden.

A security review with a background check according to the Security Protection Act will be conducted before employment, as the position is classified. The Swedish Customs is a total defense authority, and upon employment, you may be assigned to the Swedish Customs in a crisis situation.
